Quicksilver Babies

27 September 2009 in Agile Practice

No, I’m not talking about birth defects, I’m talking about a certain animal who’s cry sounds like this: “Waaah!, if i pause then I’m typing a search in Quicksilver i have to retype the search, waaaah!”. This uninformed beast is called the “Quicksilver Baby”. This article assumes that you are a Quicksilver Baby.

Take your medicine:

Problem: Quicksilver baby uses spotlight to launch applications because he is misinformed.

Solution: Inform Quicksilver baby by saying,
“When I Bring up Quicksilver,
And I press command plus comma,
And I press the down arrow twice,
And I click the checkbox next to “Reset search after:”,
Then the checkbox should be clear and I should not have to retype searches (unless I make a typo, but really I should get better at typing anyway)

Here’s a less snarky way of saying it for you Quicksilver Slashers: “Bring up Quicksilver Command Preferences and clear the checkbox next to “Reset search after:”.

  1. If you push command+space instead of control+space, you won’t have to change any settings. Anything you type won’t reset when you pause for 12 nanoseconds (:
